DoD CIO: Brilliant at the Basics

When Kristen Davies, the DoD’s newly installed CIO, announced the 60 day pause on third party CMMC Level 2 and 3 certification requirements in government contracts (and not a pause by primes or the DOD’s DIBCAC in requiring or auditing them), she also talked about something new called “Brilliant at the Basics”.

First of all, in most people’s opinion, these requirements are FAR from basic and second, since the DoD claims they want to simplify CMMC (questionable), adding 20 new major requirements – which likely would require rulemaking – is not a way to simplify things.
